In this article, we will talk to you about the most common malfunctions of DVD players, as well as consider methods for diagnosing these problems.

The most common problem that occurs after buying and installing DVD players is the unreadability of discs. In other words,
your device just doesn't see the drive. There can be many reasons. Probably the most common of them is the inability of the laser diode to read information from CDs and DVDs, but often this applies to more carriers of video content..
This can explain the peculiar selectivity of reading, when the drive easily reads the information it needs from CD media, but refuses to recognize DVD discs. Although it happens in a different way, when all the same thing happens with a CD-drive. In practice, users and experienced specialists claim that despite the quality, the country-manufacturer, the method of assembly and configuration, the players serve no more than 6 years. Although the quality with each new release of the batch becomes worse, and the indicators decrease constantly.

But if the problem affected you, then do not panic. First, notice what is written on the screen when the drive tries to read the disc. If "No Disk" is displayed on the screen, this is fixable. Naturally, there may be several reasons, but it is quite possible to cope with this on your own.
Diagnosis of DVD errors
Immediately inspect such an element of the player as the lens of the laser head. Notice a layer of dust? Then gently wipe it off, using a dry material: you can cotton, synthetics or silk. The main thing is not to use wet wipes or a cloth moistened with water and, of course, do not dare to wipe the laser with cologne or alcohol-containing drinks - from this the laser will become cloudy and you risk forever spoiling your portable device and the only way out in the future will only be the purchase of a new one. If you have coped with this task successfully, then the next step is to blow out the optical segments. Take any cylinder that contains compressed air and clean the system. You can also use a not very powerful jet of air from a vacuum cleaner, if this vacuum cleaner provides such a design that feeds such a jet. In general, you can use any device from which room temperature air comes out.
Do not do this manually, directing the flow of air from your mouth. This will only lead to the fact that small particles of dust will scratch the delicate and thin surface, and this will further aggravate the problem. A few small droplets of saliva can get on a prism or mirror surface, leaving a trace when drying, which will not allow the laser beam to pass exactly through the prism.
Then check the engine that directly spins the disc. But don't be fooled if it spins. Because this does not mean that it works properly. The engine can be checked with a simple ohmmeter - its resistance should not be less than 7 ohms. In most cases, it is its unstable operation that prevents the correct reading of disks, so if a breakdown is detected in the motor sector, only a replacement can serve as a better alternative. Also, if the laser head is faulty, then you should not continue to use the player, even if it still plays some discs, since if you ignore the replacement of the optical converter, the photo detector on the DVD player can easily fail and then the repair will cost you many times more. You also need to check the cable that connects the laser head to the board. Due to the constant movement, microcracks may appear in it. It's best to ring it every track for a cliff.
Well, here, perhaps, are all, the very first, actions that you can do without the help of a master. If all of the above did not help, then it is better to resort to the help of a specialist.
